October 4, 2008 - Updated by Pender
Those fluffy-looking eggs have finally hatched? Give the Voram a welcoming hug - they sure look squeezable enough for it! The Ember and Berry breeds have both been retired.

September 18, 2008 - Updated by Pender
Wh-what's this?
Obsidion hit the maps again and came back toting a couple of very familiar eggs. That's an interesting development.

September 16, 2008 - Updated by Pender
Woops, looks like we've been keeping you guys in the dark.
You might have noticed by now, but the Skyraptor have hatched, though regretabbly the Atrum and Bella breeds have both retired.
Also, the Customs List has been updated with a couple of new customs.
Now, some of you might already be aware of this, but October is my favorite month. This year we plan on hosting a plethora of activities, including a Clover Fields "pumpkin hunt," adoptable halloween critters, and a spooky-themed REP!
Unfortunately most of these events do require membership on the forums, though we're still trying to figure out how best to get those of you who collect outside of the Crossroads involved. If you have any ideas, please drop us a line!
Be sure to keep an eye out for these festivities as October draws closer! ;)

September 7, 2008 - Updated by Pender
Say hello to the Groyte! They've hatched today, and the Eccentric and Shadow breeds seem to have scattered.

Those eggs that were already sitting in the Sands have now been joined by these things... they look so soft!

August 19, 2008 - Updated by Rendel
A lot of stuff has happened lately! The Deesling have hatched -- they look quite vicious, luckily they're confined to a pot for now!

Additionally, some new eggs have appeared in the Sands. The first bunch are rumored to be a semi aquatic creature... Hmmm...

The next set of eggs are of the Skyraptor, the winner of our Monster Design Contest! Shadowcat won the competition with the idea.

Additionally, Darky has won the Immuto Design Contest with her Tropical Immuto! Give a big hello to the Tropical Immuto and to the Tropical Bug!

Finally, the week 3 REP has been released!

And that should wrap up the news for quite a while. :D

August 9, 2008 - Updated by Rendel
The Verai have grown today! Unfortunately, only the owners that managed to gain 5 loyalty with the Verai are able to train theirs, as they refuse to obey any person they don't yet trust.

August 6, 2008 - Updated by Pender
Another incentive to search the Clover Fields has made an appearance today... Presenting the Drakefly!

Their listing has been added to the Immuto entry of the Monsterpedia... although no one knows what affect they have on Basic Immuto. Rumors have been flitting about that some Immuto are allergic to this bug and have an adverse reaction to eating them... but we haven't seen any proof of that yet! =)

August 5, 2008 - Updated by Pender
It is August, and a new REP has been found wandering the Clover Fields, and their presence has caused quite a stir!

To celebrate their arrival, their Monsterpedia entry has been put up.
In addition, the REP page and the Zeppa pages have both been updated.
All Clutches are linked to the main page now as well.
Edit - And what's this? It seems Matisse was right yet again, and those odd stones actually were eggs. I guess we owe him another one...
Anyway, go check out the brand new Stonelings on their Monsterpedia page!

July 21, 2008 - Updated by Pender
We've added a new affiliate to our Affiliates page. Say hello to Arcane Zoo, a fellow adoptables site! Also, we've added a new 200x40 banner for you to display; check the Affiliates page for more information!

July 2, 2008 - Updated by Pender
Since it is now July, as promised, a new type of REP has been found lurking around the Clover Fields. Rumor has it a couple have already been snagged by some of our usual crew. A Monsterpedia entry will be added for them when more data has been collected.
Also, some more "eggs" have been added to the Sands! These were discovered by the ever-vigilant Obsidion.

June 30, 2008 - Updated by Pender
Hiro Orman has discovered a rather odd assemblage of rocks while hiking the Freehold. Though pretty, Rendel and I were debating using them only as paperweights, but Matisse has suggested we try to incubate them. He's never led us astray, but we might be wondering if, in his old age, the Anathema is going slightly senile... Nonetheless, these stones have been put in the Sands for adoption.

June 29, 2008 - Updated by Pender
The Custom List has finally been put back up. At this point, there are only two customs that aren't properly tagged, and they should be done by tonight. So now you can carouse the customs owned by people, sorted by species. Handy, isn't it?
Also, although there is a notice on the page itself - you will not steal the artwork, tagged or otherwise. People have paid money for those, and theft will not be tolerated.

June 26, 2008 - Updated by Pender
The Brionis have grown! They've turned from cute little insect-things into slightly larger - but still cute - insect-things. None of the Brionis have wandered off, which means they're all still here for your adopting enjoyment - and, they are also of the age to breed!

June 16, 2008 - Updated by Pender
The Kraden have hatched tonight, emptying the Sands out once again. Hope you kept your eggs wet - these little guys were born for the water! ;)
It seems the Ray Kraden has been all adopted out; there are no more available for adoption.

June 9, 2008 - Updated by Rendel
It looks like some more of the eggs decided to hatch tonight. Give the Reppequi some love, as the newest DWF creature. And also give a welcome to our new Genetics system. It's mostly behind the scenes, but we'll be keeping track of carriers of genetics and properly express the traits during breedings! Stay tuned for more interesting new features. :D

May 26, 2008 - Updated by Pender
Check out the Cash Shop for information on the half-price breeding sale, which begins today!

May 24, 2008 - Updated by Pender
The Wotcher have grown! They are now at their adolescent stage, which means they're breedable. =)
It seems that the older they get, the more fox-like they become... Except for that odd mane they seem to be sprouting! Hmm, I wonder what that's about.
Stats coming shortly.
Edit! Some of the eggs have hatched tonight as well. Please give a warm welcome to the Taylua, the latest addition to the Freehold's Monsterpedia. In the hatching frenzy, it appears the Diamant and Sodalite Taylua have become unavailable... but don't worry, you can always purchase one from the Cash Shop!

May 19, 2008 - Updated by Pender
It's a plague! We're being absolutely overridden by eggs! Even more eggs have been discovered and are now incubating in the Sands. Phew -- better hope some of these guys hatch before the place is completely full!

May 11, 2008 - Updated by Pender
It appears even more eggs have joined the Sands! There does seem to be a trend here, with shiny things stuck on to otherwise plain eggs, hmm?

In other news, if you check out the Cash Shop, the customs sale has begun! For this week only, all simple and modified customs are half off their original price. It's a great bargain, so take advantage!

May 10, 2008 - Updated by Pender
I would recommend taking a gander at the Cash Shop. We've had some minor price adjustments lately - but more importantly, a new service is being offered -- crossbreeding! And you might be surprised at what's involved. ;)

May 9, 2008 - Updated by Pender
The new spring layout is up and working!
In case you're wondering where all of the photos came from - I took them this morning. ;) They're just images from around Pender's yard out in the real world, haha.

May 7, 2008 - Updated by Pender Happy Birthday DWF!
That's right - DWF turns 1 year old this month! To celebrate, we'll be releasing quite a few eggs this month (this also in an effort to compensate our recent inactivity), and holding a few sales in the Cash Shop. ;)
There are also quite a few events being held on the Forums, so if you don't have an account yet you should go make one. =)
And now presenting the first of our egg releases! Pender and Rendel found these eggs while snooping around in the mountain caves the other day. They're really pretty things, all encrusted with jewels and whatnot... You should adopt one from the Sands right away!

Also - Verai stats and the Marduk stats (excluding the Tricky's) have been updated.

April 19, 2008 - Updated by Pender
All Monsterpedia pages now have size charts, to help give you an idea of how large (or small!) your creature is. =)
Also, next month is DWF's first official birthday. We have a lot planned for you guys, but a lot of it will require having an account on the forums. If you don't have on yet, go make one! I promise, you'll have a blast. =)

April 11, 2008 - Updated by Pender
Sorry we've been so quiet lately, guys. Expect the next month to be fairly devoid of many updates; both Rendel and I are entering finals week, so we won't have a lot of extra time to spend working on the site. We have a LOT planned for the summer though!
And in an effort to hold you over until then - the Auqido have just grown! Now that they're in their adolescent stage, that means you can breed them as well!
And it appears that both the Feral and Forest Auqido have retired.

April 5, 2008 - Updated by Pender
It's late, but the April REP - the "Marduk" - now have their own official page. Stats to be added shortly! =)

April 2, 2008 - Updated by Rendel
A new Random Event Pet for April is available! You can find it randomly in the Clover Fields. Information about this elusive creature will be put up in a few days time. Good luck!

March 24, 2008 - Updated by Rendel
The event for Easter 2008 has come to an end, and the easter eggs have hatched! There were Water Bugs, Leaf Bugs, Bone Bugs... And special holiday items, jelly beans and chocolate bunnies! And a special easter pet (whose information will be up in a few days)! And a new item, a bug net!

The Bug Net will increase your chances of finding bugs inside the Clover Fields -- that's right, it'll now be easier for you to all hunt for bugs!

In other news, we've been kind of lax about posting the news up here as well. This should get better in the future. The Brionis and Verai have both hatched.

March 17, 2008 - Updated by Pender
The Cash Shop has been moved to a separate page. Some of the prices were lowered, and there are new things to purchase - such as retired monsters! Take a look.

March 14, 2008 - Updated by Pender
The Hidden Crossroads v2 - the official RP boards of DWF - are now open.
Wondering what's so good about RPing? You have the chance to train and tame your monster, find potential mates and breed them, show-off customs, and discover monsters that you can't get from the Monsterpedia.
What's more, eventually you'll be able to 'explore' for some new monsters... and word on the street is that most of them are pretty badass. ;)
Check it out!

March 8, 2008 - Updated by Rendel
The information about the Leaf Immuto and the Water Immuto has been added to the Immuto section of the Monsterpedia. The stats of the Water Immuto have also been added. Check it out! :D

March 4, 2008 - Updated by Pender
A new link has appeared on our side menu, directing you to Current Clutches. Each of the clutches born here at the Freeholds get a page all to their own, and are all indexed by species and linked from this page. =)
Also, the Customs List is now up-to-date.

February 26, 2008 - Updated by Pender
Information about breeding Immuto has now been added to the Breeding Ordering Pages. Also, expect the Clutches pages to be up some time this week (although admittedly, it probably won't get done until the weekend).

February 23, 2008 - Updated by Pender
A new REP has found its way in to the Clover Fields. Start posting to find one! =)

Also, Taryn's begun to stock some new, free veggies in the Main Street Market.

February 20, 2008 - Updated by Pender
Now there are even more eggs in the Sands. Their frilly bows look out of place next to those... creepy-looking things that are in there as well.

February 18, 2008 - Updated by Pender
The Customs list has finally been updated. Also, two new Eudrace clutches have been released today. Rendel is working on a section of the site that will display all of the individual clutches, however, so you'll be able to see all of the adorable babies once that gets finished. =)

February 14, 2008 - Updated by Pender
The Iijok have grown today, and the Dappled and Fragile seemed to have gone in to hiding. ;) Their stats will be updated later.

Also, I'll be out of town this weekend, so all incoming orders and breeding requests will not be attended to until Sunday evening, at the earliest.

February 13, 2008 - Updated by Pender
We've increased the number of slots for both Open and Closed breedings to 4 and 6, respectively. We've also gotten rid of the rule that prevented people from purchasing a breeding slot more than one month in a row. We do, however, reserve the right to reinstate that rule at any time, in an attempt to keep it fair for people trying to purchase a breeding slot.
Also, rumor has it there's a new bug poking around in the Clover Fields...

February 11, 2008 - Updated by Pender
Two separate Eudrace clutches were laid today, the first to Skylark and Obsidion, and the second to Silver and Ashe.
Rendel is working on a section of the site to host each separate clutch and the resulting offspring, so hopefully we'll be able to show those off to you soon. =)
Also, with the completion of these breedings, two more Closed Breeding slots have opened up!!

February 10, 2008 - Updated by Pender
We've decided we have to change how we handle custom monsters. Rather than having all of them grow individually, when you order a custom from now on, you must specify a stage of growth (baby, adolescent, adult).
All customs that were ordered prior to today will grow as planned, since they were purchased as growing customs at the time. This will include the event customs that were handed out in the spring.
To be fair, all future customs will be allowed to breed at any stage of life.

February 9, 2008 - Updated by Pender
The Eudrace have grown today - and it appears as though Frost and Wheat Eudrace are nowhere to be found anymore... Hm.
Their stats will be added to the Monsterpedia tomorrow, when Rendel has a chance to write them up for us.
On another note, now that the Eudrace are in their adolescent stage, they can now breed!

February 7, 2008 - Updated by Rendel
Obsidion has fed one of his basic Immuto a Bone Bug to transform it into a Bone Immuto. The information and stats are available inside the Monsterpedia.

February 6, 2008 - Updated by Pender
I have two things for you guys tonight.
First - We've begun to make the official move to HxR v2. If you already have an account at the original HxR, please follow the instructions Spirit has posted over there to move your stuff over. Once you're settled in at v2, send either Rendel or I a PM so that we can confirm your monsters.
If you do not have an account at the original HxR, send us an e-mail and we'll get back to you on that count.
In other news! It appears the Sands have some company again! These eggs turned up earlier today, and we have no idea what's waiting inside of them...

February 2, 2008 - Updated by Rendel
It appears that the Clover Fields have opened up to exploration! It is said that those who enter Clover Fields have immense luck, and may even find the rare Immuto, a creature capable of changing its form by eating bugs! Also, some very lucky people have reported seeing a new type of creature; these REPs are quite rare and available for only a limited time, so start posting! For every 10 roleplaying posts (in ANY roleplay section of the forums), you have a chance to receive that week's REP -- with the exception of this week's, for which a chance will be given every 5 roleplaying posts instead of 10! For more information, check out the Immuto and REP sections of the Monsterpedia.

January 28, 2008 - Updated by Pender
What's this? The Sands are empty!! The two Blood and Ninja Anathema, the Forest and Spring Auqido, and the Tabby Wotcher have all been moved to their respective Monsterpedia pages.

The stats of the monsters are up on the Monsterpedia pages, as well.

January 27, 2008 - Updated by Pender
It appears we've had some hatchings today! A couple new Anathema, and... what's that? A new species!? Please give a warm welcome to the Wotcher!

It also appears that two of our Wotcher breeds promptly hid themselves away immediately after hatching... The Jeckle and Sky Wotcher are now retired. ;)
The Wotcher page has been added to the Monsterpedia, complete with all of its stats.

January 25, 2008 - Updated by Pender
You may have noticed a change on our navigational menu. The Monsterpedia has been reformatted. It now includes a Monster page (which is basically what the Monsterpedia used to be; that links off to all of the Monster pages - Eudrace, Iijok, Auqido, and Anathema), and two new pages. Immuto and REPs? I wonder what on earth those are... and do they have anything to do with the Clover Fields that have shown up on the forums?

January 20, 2008 - Updated by Pender
So that's it! We're officially open! The old DWF forums have been turned in to temp forums until HxR opens. Unfortunately, since HxR and DWF have two different currency systems, and two different training systems, we had to close the training/taming pens, as well as the City. However, any loyalty or levels that your monster gains while RPing on these temp forums will transfer over to HxR v2 once it opens. There's a post on the main forums that - hopefully - explains this better.
So go! Go play! Train those beasties of yours! ;)

January 19, 2008 - Updated by Pender
Sorry for the silence on this end. We're pretty much stuck in limbo here; DWF is done and ready to open, but Spirit is still working hard on the HxR v2. So! Over the course of the next week, Rendel and I will be working on turning the old forums in to some temporary forums. That will let us allow monsters to grow and keep up with the flow of things outside of HxR.
BE AWARE, however, that when this is implemented, your Scales will not transfer over to the HxR forums. They do NOT use the same currency that we do. However, all stats, training, and taming will transfer... so it won't all be for nothing. ;)
Look for this implementation shortly; perhaps even as soon as Monday.

January 10, 2008 - Updated by Pender
Got a lot of work done insofar as preparing for the future today. ;) Otherwise, just a quick update saying that the Alchemy and Minerals page now has two free items - a beautiful sample of Lace Agate and Tiger's Eye. Right now they have little use other than to entertain those creatures more appreciative of opulence, but perhaps in the future they'll do something a bit more special.

January 9, 2008 - Updated by Pender
The stats of all of the creatures have been added to their Monsterpedia entries. They're pop-up pages, so if you don't see them, make sure you have your pop-up blocker disabled!
If you check out the Items page, you'll notice that the links no longer lead to the stores on the forums. Instead, another pop-up window feature, this time with the HTML and BBC codes for all of the free items our shop owners are kind enough to provide for us. The rarer items you'll still have to pay for, and those will remain in the official DWF shops on the forums. ;)
In addition to re-organizing the way items can be accessed, we've also updated all existing item images, and added a few more to the site as well. Look for Mac's new delicious drink, some seeds for your monsters from Taryn... and rumor has it, Rossalin has stocked her shop as well. Someone mentioned seeing some potions on the shelves in her HxR keep... I wonder what they do?

January 8, 2008 - Updated by Pender
We've finished Ordering Pages for Limited and Unlimited Breedings, as well as all Custom Monsters and Custom Breeds, which means everything will be open to purchase as soon as the site goes public. =)
If you find anything wrong with the links or the PayPal pages, please let us know and we'll fix it ASAP!!
As far as background work goes, we made backups of all the php files today. We plan on doing this twice a month at the very least - mostly to protect against mistakes we might make. ;) Also, the entire old layout has been removed from the domain - all the old .html files - so don't go looking for it. It's gone. ^^

January 7, 2008 - Updated by Pender
The Auqido eggs have gotten their (minor) revamp, as have the ??? eggs. Also, two new Anathema eggs have been added to the Sands... I wonder what they'll look like when they hatch?
Two more of those curious ??? eggs have made their way in to the Sands as well, today.
On another note, all of the custom redraws are up to date. Some items were revamped today as well. These are the kinds of revamps you'll most likely be seeing for the next couple of weeks, until HxR v2 goes public. =) Enjoy!

January 6, 2008 - Updated by Pender
So we've made some changes this past week. Rendel and I have both decided that our section on the Hidden Crossroads forum will serve as our main forum. I can't link you there yet because they're still in beta testing, but we've moved the shops in and are getting ourselves comfortable there.
Meanwhile, here on the main site, we're giving everything the basic once-over. The Cash Shop has been reorganized (as has its section on the menu). Breeding has been moved to the Cash Shop, since it will involve actual money. We've also split the Custom section up in to two pieces - Custom Monsters and Custom Breeds. Each page has been rewritten to help clarify everything, but please let us know if it's still confusing. =) To make this even easier for you, both Rendel and I have gotten incredibly simple AIM screen names! They are DWF Rendel and DWF Pender, respectively! Difficult, we know. ;) Anyway, please feel free to contact us whenever you see us online. We promise we don't bite, and we really want to get to know you guys.
Other than that, it's smooth sailing all around. The redraws are almost done - all that's left now are the eggs - and I've finally gotten around to getting the template done for that pesky ??? species. ;)
As for when we will officially be opening: We've decided to hold off on official release until Spirit opens Hidden Crossroads v2. Our URL has been thrown around here and there for "beta testing" purposes, which is fine, but we're not considered officially open yet. Just to clarify. =)
Anyway! All this to say that there is still some work to be done, but from here on out it's pretty much downhill coasting. Thanks so much for your patience, guys!

December 30, 2007 - Updated by Pender
I'm pretty sure the new layout is complete. I'm gonna try to pull in a few people to just double-check, make sure everything makes sense and is working correctly ("beta testers?"), and then I'm gonna continue to search for staff.
Because, once again, WE NEED STAFF. Right now the entire staff team consists of two people; me and Rendel. Considering our population right now is about 0 that's fine, but once the merge with MML is complete we expect to generate a little bit more interest. We need staff.
Also, I updated the Terms of Service today (which you can find here). Just a minor change to number 7. Our forums are no longer hosted at FreePowerBoards or whatever they were on before, so you are now expected to follow the terms of ProBoards instead. I'm sure we'll have no trouble with that. ;)
The rest of the day will likely be dedicated to cleaning up the last of the monsters, double-checking the website, re-arranging the forums, and finishing up the last of the pet templates that need to be done. We should manage to open pretty much on time.

December 29, 2007 - Updated by Pender
We're slowly but surely pulling things together. The new layout is done - we just have to finish moving the old html pages in to the new php layout. =) I'm sure you're wondering what this means. We've ditched the three-frame layout that we were running in favor of a central, scrolling div layer. There's more for your computer to load, but it just makes more sense from a coding perspective. Plus, what with modern internet capabilities, frames are just so... blocky and obsolete.
Anyway! That's just one of many changes you'll be seeing as we get this site back on its feet. The pets have all gotten re-draws - customs included - and Rendel and I are beginning to work on the forums.
WE STILL NEED STAFF. We need staff very badly. If you're interested in applying, please check our Staff page for instructions and a list of open positions.
