_ __ ___Cocytus

Species: Cocytus
Number: 18
Breeds:Noctil, Myzopt, Vesper, Chiropt (retired)
Habitat: Forest, Mountains
Growth: Normal
Fertility: Copious
Size: Small
Pronunciation: [koh-KY-tis]
Stats: Soon
Notes: Named for their mischievous natures, the Cocyti are small, nocturnal creatures that can be found in areas with ample nesting room. Like the bats they so resemble, their strong limbs allow them to sleep upside-down, gripping to small crevasses in rock or bark. Although their tails are not fully prehensile, Cocyti have been observed using them for balance, and occasionally to stabilize their grip. Primarily insectivorous, the local folklore also speaks of blood-sucking individuals. Larger families have been known to cannibalize the young and the weak, and although scientists originally believed it was because Cocyti mistook their siblings for moths, it has since been discovered that their vision is excellent. They do not make good pets, being rather energetic and messy, but many people keep them for their vibrant colors and gorgeous markings.
